CanvasM celebrates "Ideagiri" with students from universities
Posted on 8th September, 2010 CanvasM Technologies advanced its strides in its open innovation venture by successfully completing season 1 of InnoVAS. InnoVAS stands for Innovation in Value added services and comprises of university alliance program. Season one included top universities from NCR & Karnataka.
The contest happened at 2 locations –Noida & Bangalore.
Season 1 of the initiative spanned over 10 universities, atleast 1000 concepts for mobile applications out of which the CanvasM jury shortlisted over a 100 ideas. 60 of them were distilled further to battle it out in a contest.
Contest at Bangalore took place on 27th of August 2010 . Pramod Bhat from RNSIT, Bangalore bagged the first place for his idea involving semantic search. Mahesh Yatagiri stood second for concept of one-touch service for emergency & first responders. BIT’s Gautham Reddy explained his concept for rural VAS application and earned the third place.
Along with this, a special award was given to Kushal Bafna from RNSIT for his concept of applied vedic mathematics to security & faster processing.
Contest at Noida was held on 3rd September 2010 and shortlisted ideators from NCR regions were at their best in presenting their ideas. Sudarshan Bengani’s (JSSATE, Noida) idea for an entertainment app based on image morphing wont the first place followed by Neelesh Sahay’s (JIIT,Noida) telecom based monitoring of electricity distribution that stood second. JIIT bagged the third place too when Suchitra Singh’s automated profile alert for callers got applauds from the jury.
Kamayani Sadhwani of NSIT, Delhi was awarded a special award for her thought on application for rural masses.
All the way, the judges were amazed at creativity of students applied to real world problems and the students made the most of the contest, learning from the panel members about how to make their concepts better for realization & implementation. The ideas were judged on the basis of innovativeness, viability of context to target masses, commercial capabilities & potential impact to the market.
